New Year Planning

There is absolutely nothing magical that happens between December 31st and January 1st.  The time and date change and the world spins just as it did last year.  The year changes holds significance in our mind only, and a big significance it is.

Starting Fresh

The calendar change is a logical place to start fresh.  The year reset to January can be a reset to our lives.  People make new year resolutions to lose weight, start a business, and spend more time with family.  All of these are noble goals.

In business, the end of a year represents the end of a tax season, new budgets, and new marketing plans.  Many of us keep score with a quarterly scorecard to measure projects.  Again, these are just important in our mind.

As you plan out 2018 I encourage you to set measurable goals.  A goal to "lose weight" and "grow business" is not a goal, it is a wish.  A goal is measurable.  I want to lose 30 pounds in three months.  I want to grow my revenue by 30% in 2018 by doing X, Y, and Z.

Make the goal measurable and get a coach to hold you accountable.  Don't mistake goal and wish.  Set goals and hit the target.

Happy New Year!
